The Palace of Westminster in London UK- also known as the Houses of Parliament – a cityscape commissioned in 1991 from Stephen B Whatley.
At the request of his client, the artist made drawings on location on the South Bank of the River Thames of this particular view of the government buildings just over Westminster Bridge; and beyond to the right, the spires of Westminster Abbey; before creating the large oil painting in his studio.
"Lawyer Robert Younger originally discovered my work through my early exhibitions in London in the 1990s; acquiring two still-life paintings and commissioning both this cityscape (a view close to his heart) and a double portrait of himself and his partner. About 10 years ago he moved up to Scotland and we sadly lost touch. His warm smile always lit up my exhibitions- so I hope we might meet again…" ~ Stephen B Whatley
